AbstraktThe paper discusses the editorial history of the successive volumes of the Biblioteka Narodowa [national library, BN] series, prepared and published between the two world wars. Archive materials are used to present the person of Stanisław Kot, editor of the BN in the years 1919-1939. A man of unique diligence, Kot most carefully selected authors or each critical study and translation, and worked with the lovers and aficionados of classical languages and neo-Latinists whose number included Tadeusz Sinko, Seweryn Hammer, Witold Klinger, Józef Zawirowski, and Józef Birkenmajer. Their cooperation complemented Polish literary collections with critical editions of Homer’s, Tacitus’, Horace’s and M. Hussowski’s works.
